Protecting Chickens: The Airstream Chicken Tractor

Raising chickens in the pasture can be challenging with as many predators as we have here in rural Missouri. Birds of prey, coyotes, and dogs roam wild and even raccoons and possums can annihilate a flock of chickens rather quickly.

Over the years we have improved our “chicken tractor” to now what Cliff calls it the AirStream Chicken Tractor.

As you can see in these pictures above, the birds are protected from any predator and with water and feed attached to the tractor, daily moving the chickens is very easy and the birds get fresh pasture everyday.

Replacing the Roof

Last month, the tarp cover is being replaced with the aluminum roof that Cliff and Trevor built, complete with hinges so it can tilt so the warm air can escape, keeping them comfortable in warm or cool weather.

Below is a short video on Cliff and Trevor moving and installing the aluminum roof!

Interested in Meat Birds?

These are meat birds, so they will be taken to the butcher and into the freezer. Below is contact info if you are interested in protein from the farm. Pairs well with wine!
